Babies and young children (under the age of eight) are baptized upon their parents’ request. It is expected that at least one of the parents is Roman Catholic and that there is a reasonable presumption that the ongoing faith practices of the family will provide the opportunity for the newly-baptized to grow in faith through attendance at weekly Eucharist, participation in faith formation and service in the community.
Baptisms are celebrated:
.at one of the parish Masses
.at 1 PM on the first or third Sunday of the month
.at the convenience of families
One of the pastoral staff meets with families before the Baptism of their first-born, to review the theology of the sacrament, to anticipate the ritual of the sacrament and answer any questions about godparents, etc. These small group evening sessions are scheduled at 7 PM on a Monday, every other month.
To schedule a Baptism and/or sign up for a pre-Baptism session, call the parish office.
To prepare for the baptism of an older child (eight or older) or an adult, the formation process of RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation of Children) or RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is followed.
