The main job of an altar server is to help the priest during Mass. A server helps by doing specific tasks and by setting an example for the congregation by participating in liturgy (singing the hymns, responding to the prayers, etc), by looking alert and by sitting or standing at the appropriate times. It may seem like a simple job, but it is a very important ministry. Training sessions are offered periodically. This ministry is open to anyone in grades 4-12. New servers are always welcome.
