Welcome
Greetings! Welcome to the St. Mary’s website! We are located in Canandaigua in the heart of the upstate New York Finger Lakes. We are a vibrant community offering many services and enjoying rich worship, lively activities, and active school within picturesque City of Canandaigua. We invite people to visit and warmly welcome those who desire to share in our community life. There are many ministry areas available depending on one’s gifts and talents. When you are at St. Mary’s, you are home!
For the past several years, St Bridget's and St Mary's parishes have been clustered and actively working toward becoming one parish. In the spring of 2012, we were officially renamed St Benedict Parish of Ontario County. We are currently in the midst of all the legal changes that must take place and hope that the process will be completed by the fall of 2012, when we will be one parish with two worship sites.
Mission
Firmly rooted in the Catholic doctrines and traditions St. Mary’s Church, through the power of the Holy Spirit, fulfills its mission by following the ways of Jesus Christ. We, the parishioners who are St. Mary’s Church, represent Jesus Christ to our community. Our mission is to follow the way of Christ in our thoughts, words, and deeds, and to make Christ more fully present in all who live within our community.
News

If you have not already done so, please pick up a copy at the doors of church or call the office to have one sent to you. Thank you!

OUR LEGACY, OUR FUTURE, OUR HOPE
By now, you have likely received a mailing about Our Legacy, Our Future, Our Hope: The Campaign for Priests and seminarians. This Campaign is a special diocese-wide initiative that seeks to raise $14 million to meet two important needs: providing excellent education and formation for the greatly increasing number of young men preparing to be priests; and, secondly, to provide our senior priests a secure retirement after many years of selfless service. You can help provide for the Future! Please support the Campaign through a generous pledge, which may be paid over a three year period. To give, you can respond to the mailing you receive; pick up an envelope and donation form at the exits of the Church; or donate securely online at www.dor.org.

Prayer for an End to Violence
Lord of all life, we ask for strength and courage to live non-violently in ourselves, in our homes and in our communities.
Help us to be aware that the language we use in our thoughts and words has great power to affirm the worth of others, as well as the power to destroy.
Direct our thoughts, words and actions to affirm life in ourselves and others. Keep us aware that what we say and do serves as a powerful example to all those around us.
Make us messengers and witnesses of your peace and love.
We ask this in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, whose example we strive to follow. Amen.
